Creating meaning using media language AO2 & AO3
To create meaning in a media text depends mainly on the director as he has to portray his message and image across to the audience using cinematography and mise-en-sene to show that intended image to create.
for my own creation own creation i intended my final product to be quick and swift to make it fully understandable yet still retain the same concept of the continuous enigma that can be seen in the first few shots my using the right make up to create a certain feel towards the protagonist where he has extremely dark area under his eyes to symbolism that he is exhausted by everything around him yet what exact makes him stay awake those nights.
the shot types i used in my final product mainly consist of simple shots but they are there for a reason. each shot has a center line point where you can see either the surrounding or the setting to show what is the location of scene and when is it taking place. also the shot chose heavily concentrates on the facial reaction of the protagonist.
to create this meaning you have to create every shot carefully to fulfill that criteria.
as you have to ensure that the mise en sene is right for the setting and befitting the genre to keep the meaning of what you are creating intact. you have to insure that you have a good understanding of the conventions that make your genre and understand how to apply them.
Cinematography has a major role in creating meaning in A film this allows the creator to adjust the viewing angle of the audience to make them look in that certain direction to have certain feel.
in my footage i have cut my antagonists head from the shot to create an enigmatic character to ensure that the audience keep on wondering who he is.
